FAQ

ANY QUESTIONS

  • Is Microblading painful?
Our method of microblading is the most gentle technique as we don’t work deep within the skin therefore it is nowhere near as painful as a tattoo procedure. Most clients describe pain levels to be around 3-5 out of 10 (without numbing) with 10 being the most painful. Numbing is also available upon request.
  • Will you work over somebody else’s work?
In regards to any corrective work please send us clear images. You can do so via email/whatsApp or instagram. Ideally the pigment should be as faded as possible. If the pigment is dark then it would be best to wait for the tattoo to fade or have removal before microblading can be done. Please refer to Saline Removal on our page.
  • How long does it last?
This varies from person to person and it depends mainly on your skin type, lifestyle, medical background and the initial aftercare. If you have combination/oily skin type it can last between 6-8 months (in some cases longer). If you have normal to dry skin then it can last between 1-2 years or in some cases even longer.
  • Who isn’t suitable for microblading?
Unfortunately, since Microblading punctures the skin with tiny needles, we cannot work with clients with these conditions: Individuals prone to keloids, super thin skin, Rosacea or hyperpigmentation. Individuals with visible redness on the face. Broken blood vessels too close to the skin surface will cause excessive bleeding, affecting the retention of the brows. Individuals with transmittable blood diseases such as HIV or Hepatitis. Microblading artists cut into the skin so it is best to not work with these conditions for the safety of our clients as these conditions greatly impact the immune system and healing process of individuals. Individuals with auto-immune diseases. Microblading may greatly impact the immune system and healing results are not guaranteed. If you’ve had Botox/filler in the brow area. We ask that clients wait 4 weeks after botox/filler before getting Microblading done. Alternatively, you can do the Microblading treatment first and then wait 4 weeks to do your botox/filler. If you have any kind of skin condition near your eyebrows. Eczema, severe acne, rashes, or anything else near eyebrows. You will need to wait until healed and in some cases present a signed doctors medical note. Individuals with oily skin & large pores are not good candidates for Microblading. Individuals undergoing active chemotherapy. Individuals under 18 years of age. Individuals who are pregnant or nursing. Individuals with dark pre-existing eyebrow tattoo. Individuals with blood clotting disorders or severe heart issues. Any questions please email info@thebrowlab.uk
  • How long is the healing time?
The eyebrows generally heal within 10-14 days. With the aftercare provided your brows will heal without scabbing so you do not have to hide from the world until they heal. The eyebrows will still look good within the healing time. Initially the eyebrows will be stronger in colour but will then fade to a more natural colour after the 2 weeks.
  • Does it damage your eyebrows?
Microblading does not stop or affect the natural growth of the eyebrow hair. Your brow hair will continue to grow and will remain healthy.
  • How long is the procedure?
It can take approximately 2 - 3.5hrs for the initial procedure, after the consent forms are filled in we start with the measuring and drawing ensuring that the shape is perfect for you and then we start the brow enhancement.
  • What should I expect at my appointment?
Your entire Microblading process should take approximately 2 - 3.5 hours. Step 1: Prior to the start of your procedure, Charla will work with you to discuss your goals, lifestyle, the shape of your existing brows, and the problem areas you wish to address. Bringing reference photos of your desired brow shape is recommended. Charla will then discuss with you the best treatment for you and once it is finalised, you will proceed with the microblading procedure! Step 2: We take photos of your bare brows Step 3: Then we sanitise the brow area with an alcohol pad Step 4: We will then take a photo using a brow symmetry app to measure the brows Step 5: Your desired brow shape will be mapped onto your brows using an eyebrow pencil and any excess hair outside the shape will be plucked. Step 6: We will only proceed with the treatment once we come to an agreement on your new perfect shape! Step 7: Photos will be taken of your new brow shape. Step 8: The Microblading procedure begins! Step 9: Brows will be complete and final photos of your new beautiful brows will be taken. Step 10: Just before you leave, we will discuss a personalised aftercare depending on your skin type and an after-care kit will be provided.
  • Do I need a 5-8 touch up?
Your brows will not be completed without a touch up session and may not last as long as desired. A Touch up is recommended 5-8 weeks after the initial procedure to add pigment to any fading gaps (and to make small amendments/tweaks if needed). After the brows are complete an annual colour booster session is recommended to obtain optimal results (length of boosters can vary depending on skin type)
  • What if I need an additional top up?
If you require an additional top up for Microblading this incurs a £50 cover charge. There could be a number of reasons as to why you may need an additional session, including aftercare, general skin conditions, or if you would like to enhance your treatment.
  • Are there some clients who cannot retain the pigment?
Yes, this does happen. Some people have highly effective immune systems that reject the pigment, and some just have highly effective skin healing. It's very rare, but it's important that all clients understand this is a possibility and in most cases, there is no way for us to know if this will take place prior to the work being done. Occasionally, we will recommend an additional session. If the client were still retaining very little pigment after the third appointment, we would not recommend another touch-up, as it might be too much for the skin.
  • How do I book my appointment?
To get booked in you must fill in the enquiry form and this can be found on the ‘get booked in’ page. All new appointments require a £50 deposit which gets deducted from the final price of your treatment. Please note the £20 fee for the consultation/patch test doesn't go towards the treatment price.
  • Can I reschedule or cancel my appointment after paying my deposit?
Please understand that all deposits are Non Refundable, so please make sure you are certain when booking your treatment. We understand that things can change, and if you need to reschedule your appointment and give us 7 days notice we can rearrange without the loss of your deposit.
  • How do I book my 5-8 weeks top up?
This appointment will be manually scheduled by us on the day of your appointment.
  • Do I need a consultation/patch test before getting microblading?
A face to face consultation/patch test is strongly advised in the studio prior to booking your appointment. (Except saline removal bookings) A quick eligibility check must be completed to ensure you're suitable for microblading. Once confirmed you can then proceed to arranging your consultation/patch test slot. For more info please check Bookings and Terms & Conditions information page.
